Welcome from the Interim PresidentÂ
Sinte Gleska UniversityÂ
Anpetu waste, Mitakuyapi.Â
Cante wasteya nape ciyuzape.Â
On behalf of Sinte Gleska University, I welcome you to our institution—an institution rooted in the strength, knowledge, and sovereignty of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate.Â
Sinte Gleska University stands as a place of learning that is guided not only by academic excellence, but by the living values of our people. Our work is grounded in Wolakota—a way of life that calls us to walk in truth (Wowicake), to carry responsibility (Wowaȟ’uncinyepi), and to uplift one another through empowerment (Wiyokihiye). These are not simply words; they are commitments we carry into our classrooms, our governance, and our relationships with students, families, and community.Â
As Interim President, my role is to ensure stability, clarity, and forward movement during this time of transition. We are focused on strengthening our academic programs, supporting student success, and upholding the integrity of our institution for future generations. This work is shared work. Faculty, staff, students, leadership, and community all have a role in shaping the path forward.Â
At SGU, education is not separate from who we are—it is an extension of our identity, our history, and our responsibility to the Oyate. We are committed to creating a learning environment where students are supported academically, culturally, and personally, so they may carry their knowledge back to their families and communities.Â
Whether you are a current student, a prospective student, a community member, or a partner, we welcome you. There is a place for you here.Â
Toksa ake, we will see you again on this path of learning.Â
With respect,Â
Dr. Margaret Ross (Wahcasawin)Â
Interim President Sinte Gleska UniversityÂ
