For those who may not know me, my name is Rachel Janis. I come from Wanblee (Eagle Next District) and have lived on the Rosebud for almost 15 years. I am both Sicangu and Oglala and was raised by my maternal grandparents Poncho and Earlene Zimiga.
I am a First grade teacher at a Lakota immersion school on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. working on obtaining my bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Siƞt̄e Gleṡk̄a University. My philosophy has always been to work with Lakota youth, helping and guiding them. I hope to become a Lakota Educator some day.
