Maintenance Department

The SGU maintenance department is responsible for ensuring facility safety, upkeep of buildings, campus landscape, equipment and infrastructure within a facility.  The primary focus includes preventive maintenance, repairs, and operation of machinery.  The Director assists with budget development, ordering supplies and training needs for efficient operations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance: Schedule and address Maintenance Request for repairs â€‹

  • Repairs: Addressing equipment functions and scheduling repairs for proper operations.​

  • Inspection: An annual building assessment is completed per building inspection to identify potential issues. â€‹

  • Maintenance Scheduling: Planning and coordinating maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. â€‹

  • Budget Management: Managing the department's budget for supplies, labor, and contractor services.  A budget is reviewed and updated on an annual basis.​

  • Professional Development/Training: Provide or seek out training for the maintenance staff to maintain current skills and ensure safe work practices.​

  • Collaboration: Working with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure smooth operations.

  • Safety Compliance: Implementing and monitoring safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.​​

  • Documentation: Maintaining records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment history.
