The Institute of Technologies began as a Vocational Education Program in the fall of 1986 with two
programs: Building Trades and Forestry Technology. The Secretarial and Data Processing programs
were added in 1989. An Accounting Certificate was added in 2001. Along with all the changes in
technology, the Secretarial program became Office Technology.
The Institute of Technologies (IOT) provides career and technical educational courses incorporating classroom and work-based career and technical instruction, leading to Associate of Applied Science Degrees in areas including Construction Trades Technologies, Office Technology, Computer Technology, Data Entry, Marketing, The Institute of Technologies department provides One year (OY) and short-term (ST) certificate programs support our advanced degree programs. Successful completion of a short-term and one-year certificate program is the starting point for many students in achieving more advanced degrees. The curricula in the certificate programs provide for a “stackable” articulation into one of the IOT Associate of Applied Science degree programs. These include short-term certificates in: Customer Service, Data Entry, Maintenance Technician, Help Desk Support, and Additive Manufacturing Technician, and one-year certificates in Building Trades, Office Technology, Data Entry Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Marketing, and Welding.
