Sinte Gleska University was advised of the “Stay at Home” measure recently announced by the RST President’s office to address the COVID pandemic. The University leadership reviewed the provisions of this measure and determined the following mode of operations:
- Sinte Gleska University will continue to exercise the COVID measures (e.g., masks in public, sanitizers, social distancing, etc.) already in place for SGU students, employees and facilities.
- With six weeks remaining for the 2020 Fall semester, SGU will continue to maintain operations for virtual academic instruction, virtual student services, business office, grants management, environmental services, campus safety, and protection of University assets. Employees desiring to work at home will need approval from their supervisor and must submit a bi-weekly accounting of their work based on an approved plan.
- OL courses will continue to be offered on regularly scheduled days and times with faculty providing instruction from their offices. Student feedback has suggested this approach has been better utilizing University-based technology.
- All SGU buildings will continue to be locked down through December 31st.
- Administrative leave will continue to be approved for employees requiring quarantine situations. Any employee testing positive will be required to submit medical documentation before turning to work.
- SGU Nursing Department chair DeAnn Eastman-Jansen will continue to serve as the lead for COVID questions and procedures.
- SGU has submitted CARES Act proposals to the Tribe for consideration of institutional needs in response to the pandemic. Subject to approval and procurement of funds, the University hopes to upgrade COVID measures including the addition of more Environmental Services staff and resources.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. SGU employees are encouraged to exercise COVID measures and to “Stay at Home” after work hours. Be safe!!
