For the first time, a Career Readiness Training, prepared by SGU~Allied Health, was held in association with it to help prepare those applying for jobs, or who wanted a refresher course, to learn various skills needed for employment.
The following topics were presented: Resume Writing, presented by Maria Walking Eagle; Job Portfolio, presented by Marianne Left Hand Bull; Interview Techniques, presented by Shannon DuBray; Work Ethics, presented by Virginia Cozad; Telephone Etiquette, presented by Stacy Charging Hawk; and, Background Checks Information, presented by Captain Calvin "Hawkeye" Waln, Jr.
A Certificate was awarded to those who attended all six presentations. There were seven who completed the series to receive a Certificate.
Those who received a Certificate for their participation were: Rebecca Larvie, Michelle Dog Eyes, Henry L. Fogg, Bradley Baldwin, Raechel Herman, Pamela Preslicka, and Mishayla Buchanan.
All who attended the 6 presentations were also eligible for three Grand Door Prize Drawings of: a Rosebud Casino package for two, donated by the Rosebud Casino; a $100 cash prize, donated by Tree of Life; and, an Air Conditioner, donated by RST Community Services. However, throughout the day of the 6 presentations, and in the Job Fair area, door prizes were given away to all who registered for both, so one had a chance to win various times.
The Grand Door Prize Winners were: Pamela Preslicka (the Rosebud Casino pkg.), Mishayla Buchanan ($100.), and Michelle Dog Eyes (the Air Conditioner).
Besides many, many adults looking for a job, we also had St. Francis Indian School 6th-12th graders attend the Job Fair and our Career Readiness Training.
The largest turn-out of the day for the Career Readiness Training, according to Denise One Star of SGU~Allied Health, was for the "Background Checks Information" presentation, with 73 participants, given by Captain Waln, of RST Law Enforcement Services. Although it was the last presentation of the day, it was the most active presentation, in that, it had the most participant questions, and the presentation ran over in time by about a half-hour. It was a very informative session, as were all the presentations!
Thank you to all of the presenters, participants, job seekers, and donators of door prizes! It wouldn't have been a success without you all!
