SGU~Allied Health, which is under the SGU Institute of Technologies (I.O.T.), is now offering two new programs in its Allied Health program: (1.) Home Health Technician, which is a 1-year Certificate program; and, (2.) the Associates of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Allied Health, which is a two-year degree.
SGU~Allied Health also offers a Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), which is a one-semester class.
If you have already taken classes, Allied Health degrees/certificates join a student’s prior education background with health, business, and general education skills that combine to help provide graduates with additional employment and career advancement opportunities. If you haven’t had any prior classes, you can still register for classes full-time, and finish your education in 2-years or less, depending on which career path you choose.
These three new programs offer limited seating, so register early!
Also being offered right now is a FREE CPR/First Aid class where you can earn your 2-year certification card and one-credit! The classes are being held in increments of five 3-hour sessions for a total of 15 hours, which is needed to earn the certificate. The next, and last, session which is not full yet will be held on November 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, and December 1, 2015, from 1-4pm (each of the five days). You pay for the $10.00 certificate card, however. Please register for the last session at the SGU Registrar’s office prior to Nov. 17th.
Throughout the year, SGU~Allied Health also partners with Davita Healthcare/Kidney Care to bring “Kidney Smart is the Smart Start” training which takes place in the classroom of the Allied Health office, and is taught by a certified instructor from Davita. The next Kidney Smart training will be held on October 29th, from 1-2:30pm. If you miss that class, the next Kidney Smart class will be held on November 19th, from 1-2:30pm. The public, as well as SGU students, are invited to attend these classes. You don’t have to register or be a student to attend these Kidney Smart classes, simply show up on the day of the class.
Pre-Registration for the Spring 2016 semester at SGU, for Returning SGU students only, will take place on December 11th, from 9am-5:30pm, at the SGU Student Services Building (on the Antelope Lake side of Campus). Registration for New and Returning students will also be held January 4th-15th, 2016. January 4th is Orientation day for New students!
