Hi my name is Ziggy I am the program manager at Camp Cavell. Here at camp we would like to really decolonize both our camp culture and the land. My grandmother was the last status card holder in my family and i was raised away from the community but accurate indigenous representation is important to me despite just being a decedent. We are hiring staff from all around the world to try expose the next generation of our campers to different cultures and i would be so happy to see some natives among our staff. We believe that dispelling the negative societal views of peoples different cultures at a young age is very important for the future generations. Also we actively remove invasive species and reintroduce native species with the campers and train our staff... which for many people is extremely rewarding feeling knowing we are making 55 acres on the lakeshore look like it has for thousands of years.
