Open New Doors for Yourself!
Come See What's New at SGU!
If you haven't already heard, Sinte Gleska University's Institute of Technologies, through their Allied Health program, is offering a new Home Health Technician Certificate!
Presently, as part of the Home Health Technician curriculum, SGU is registering students for the ALH 125 "Residential Home Cleaning" class, which is being offered during Summer Session II, June 29-July 24, 2015. The class will meet Monday-Thursday, 9-11 am. This class is a requirement to fulfill the Home Health Technician Certificate, and is only being offered this summer. It won't be offered in the Fall or Spring semesters. You have until June 26th to register.
What can you do with your Home Health Technician Certificate? You can provide services to home-bound or disabled individuals under the supervision of home care or social service agencies. Home Health Tech's can give meds, take vitals, give baths, clean and/or cook for their clients - in their home, community care facilities, hospitals, or at rehabilitation facilities.
Employment of Home Health Tech's are projected to grow by 50 percent between the years 2010 and 2018, which is much quicker than the average for all occupations. The expected growth is due to the projected rise in the number of elderly people, an age group that often has mounting health problems and that need assistance with daily activities. The elderly and other clients, such as the physically disabled, are increasingly relying on home care.
To get started on your Home Health Technician Certificate, which is a total of 30 credit hours and includes completing the CNA program, you will need a high school diploma/GED, and to register at the Registrar's Office at the SGU Student Services Building, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.
